Joni demonstrates a real passion for her work with special needs children and young adults. She has a true enthusiasm and endless energy for improving the support and care offered. She has a lot of experience in the field gained either through her nursing background or experience of working with other families. This makes her well placed to work as part of our small family team supporting Archie: she brings fresh ideas which help to improve his experiences. She has developed a lovely bond with Archie and whilst she is always professional in her work, she has become a much valued part of our family. Archie lights up when he sees Joni and they have some lovely interactions which are personal to their relationship (e.g. “High five”, “play fighting”). Joni really does care about Archie and right from the start has treated him as an individual first and looked to work with his disabilities second. She has boundless energy and is always looking for different experiences to share or places to visit with Archie or cooking him new foods to try. Joni is a self-starter in this respect which is really important to me: she does always check if there are things that we want her to focus on too.
